Well, this has boiled over in a particularly unfortunate way over a particularly ugly incident, which everyone thought was a slam dunk for clear-cut consequences, if ever there was one.
Back in the heat of last summer, in the violence that erupted after the slaughter of three little girls in Southport, England, the newly installed Labour government of Prime MinisterKeir Starmer was caught flatfooted and stupefied.
They hadn't a clue how to react properly to curb the animosity and resentment that violently burst forth after little girls and staff attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance party were attacked with a machete-like weapon by a 17-year-old, second-generation immigrant named Axel Rudakubana.
As the assailant belongs to one of Labour's cherished victimhood, protected classes, Starmer did what has become his standard play - demonized the everyday British who dared raise their voices in protest, and began awarding himself and his government new powers to deal with the 'far-right' haters.
...Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with police chiefs from across the country to discuss plans to tackle violent disorder in several towns and cities, including Southport on Tuesday night.
Starmer condemned what he called "far-right hatred" and announced a new "national capability" in order to help police forces – more on that here.
During a well-organized counter protest (you can always tell because their signs are lovely, printed ones), a Labour councillor named Ricky Jones marched with the crowd, even after being advised to stay away from the event by Labour party higher-ups.
Councillor Jones appears to be a voluble sort of fellow, easily encouraged by a friendly crowd. So it wasn't long before he was yelling at the top of his lungs, 'they are disgusting fascists' and such things, referring, of course, to those protesting the worsening immigration crisis and *checks notes* murdering little girls
But then Mr Jones did and said something unthinkable.
AND WE NEED TO CUT THEIR THROATS [slashing motion across neck] AND GET RID OF THEM ALL
On 7 August 2024, Labour councillor Ricky Jones said about protesters: "We need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all."

"I spoke in the heat of the moment." He said.
So did Lucy Connelly. She was fast tracked and sent to jail for 31 months.
Will he go to prison? pic.twitter.com/GaptR8Q4Qv
This was completely beyond the pale in the fraught atmosphere, especially from an elected official of the ruling party tasked with dampening the heightened emotions on all sides.
Here was a Labour councillor publicly calling for bloody violence during a time of enormous civil unrest.
...The Dartford councillor was arrested the morning after the incident, which took place at a counter-demonstration organised by anti-racism campaigners in Walthamstow, east London, on Aug 7 2024.
He was charged with one count of encouraging violent disorder, which he denies.
That was last year, and they've just now held the trial.
...In his opening to the jury, Mr Holt said: “You will hear Mr Jones, himself is a Labour councillor, reiterating police advice to stay away from any such protest or demonstration.
“But Mr Jones attended Walthamstow regardless.”
Police who were at the event agreed with the prosecution that the atmosphere was electric, a 'tinderbox,' which could have exploded at the slightest spark.
...When asked about the atmosphere that night, Mr May-Robinson told the court: “My view was that it was a tinderbox – for me, what that means, any spark could have led to an incident or disorder occurring.”
He also said there were “high levels of tension between people there” and “significant numbers of people attending were wearing masks”.
Mr Jones expressed his regret that he allowed the 'heat of the moment' to overcome what little sense he obviously has.
Or was he really just speaking his mind in the heat of that moment? Anyone who found it easy enough to blurt that out is a little suspect, I'd think.
...Following his arrest, Mr Jones told police he was “sorry” he made the comments “in the heat of the moment” and had not intended for them to be “taken literally”, Mr Holt said.
But, gosh darn - those riots made Mr Jones so angry he lost his peaceful, nice guy brain for a second. That's all.
...He told the court he was “appalled” by political violence, adding: “I’ve always believed the best way to make people realise who you are and what you are is to do it peacefully.”
Mr Jones, who said he was on the Left of the Labour Party, previously told jurors the riots had made him feel “upset” and “angry” and said he felt it was his “duty” to attend counter-protests, despite being warned to stay away from such demonstrations by the Labour Party.
Remember Lucy Connolly, the mom sent to prison for 31 months after being strong-armed into a guilty plea for a mean tweet that she'd deleted within a few hours?
This elected official, publicly advocating for the deaths of his political opponents in the middle of a public demonstration at a time of civil unrest, walked scot-free this morning.
The not guilty verdict for Labour Councillor Ricky Jones and 2.5 year sentence for Lucy Connolly has just shown the entire country we have a two-tier justice system.

Some people might have doubted it.
Not any more.
The implications of this is terrifying
This country is f*cked. pic.twitter.com/bKmnTOBwj0
The only people not stunned by this verdict? Might be the residents in Mr Jones' majority immigrant district, from which the jury pool was pulled.
Everyone else is gobsmacked.
"People will be listening to this and thinking about the whole two-tier dynamic."

And furious.
The suspended Labour councillor Ricky Jones, has been found NOT GUILTY of encouraging violent disorder after he called for opposing protesters' throats to be cut at an “anti-racism” rally.

So an online post can be taken literally but violence to a crowd isn’t?
Two-tier again. pic.twitter.com/vPcnoaIU2t
The growing anger and resentment are being fueled by incident after outrageous incident. The never-ending flow of little boats landing and their human contents being housed, fed, clothed and catered to on the backs of the average British citizen has things near a breaking point.
The relentless feeling that 'British' and what it means is being stripped away in favor of foreign invaders, even as those very British must labor to pay for it, is almost too much to bear for those who still love their country.
Tensions are high in several Birmingham neighbourhoods as council workers began taking down scores of St George's Cross and Union Jack flags attached to lampposts by residents.
Described by locals as a "patriotic outpouring", flags have appeared on houses and streetlights in Northfield, a residential area in the outer southern part of the city.
Their sudden emergence has sparked huge debate among residents, with many voicing their support for the initiative on social media.
But Birmingham City Council have now confirmed the flags will be removed, saying the "unauthorised items" are "dangerous" and could potentially kill motorists and pedestrians.
"People who attach unauthorised items to lampposts could be putting their lives and those of motorists and pedestrians at risk.
And that their own government would rather hunt a British citizen down and jail them for a contrary opinion than prosecute the rapists, murderers, and thieves of different nationalities plaguing law-abiding citizens is turning what few supporters Starmer and Labour had left firmly against them.
...Zia Yusuf, the former Reform UK chairman, said: “The Labour councillor literally caught on video calling for people to slit the throats of his political opponents has been found not guilty.
“Meanwhile, Lucy Connolly gets 31 months in jail? Two-tier justice in this country is out of control.”
James Cleverly, the former home secretary and Tory leadership candidate, said the jury’s decision to clear Mr Jones was “perverse”.
He wrote on X: “This is unacceptable. Perverse decisions like this are adding to the anger that people feel and amplifying the belief that there isn’t a dispassionate criminal justice system.”
Just noticed: Ricky Jones trial was at Snaresbrook Crown Court - 10 minutes walk from me. I did my jury service there 6 years ago. I was one of only 3 white jurors. I'm sure the "Free, Free Palestine" at the end of his charming speech helped convince the jury how virtuous he is pic.twitter.com/Y8nYy99zgl

This is not going to end well.
