Never, NEVER let anyone, particularly someone of a progressive bent, try to tell you that they do not practice the arts of subterfuge, projection, and convenient rewrites of history on an epic and shamelessly flagrant scale.
Because that claim in itself is another flaming example of what bald-faced, manipulative liars, fabulists, and charlatans they all are, who will twist or ignore any immutable fact to suit their immediate purposes, be it personal gain or responsibility avoidance.
In most instances, it's a matter of achieving both.
LA MAYORAL CANDIDATE NITHYA RAMAN HAS BEEN A LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCILWOMAN SINCE 2020
Nithya V. Raman (born July 28, 1981)[1] is an American urban planner, activist, and politician serving as the Los Angeles city councilmember for the 4th district since 2020. Raman, a member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, defeated incumbent councilmember David Ryu in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024.[2][3][4]
This is Nithya Raman, LA City Councilwoman of six years, today:
THERE IS STILL NO ONE IN CHARGE, THERE ARE NO PLANS, THE CITY HAS FAILED YOU
'The CITY,' as if that was a separate entity from *checks notes* the council that runs it and determines nearly every letter put to paper about it.
Think I'm kidding?
In January 2025, the worst fires in LA history struck our city.
— Nithya Raman (@nithyavraman) May 21, 2026
Seventeen months later: There is still no plan for rebuilding. There is still no one in charge.
And today, as flames spread only a few miles outside the city, we are no better prepared to fight the next one.
Appallingly...
To the families of the Palisades, let me make this very clear: the city has failed you. You deserve so much more than you have received.
— Nithya Raman (@nithyavraman) May 21, 2026
... I am not.
Nobody is in charge of the recovery.
— Nithya Raman (@nithyavraman) May 21, 2026
Large-scale efforts need clear leadership and accountability.
Instead, the city has spent millions of dollars on consultants to write reports.
THE CITY, THE CITY, THE CITY
You deserve a city government that treats the most important rebuild in the city’s history with the urgency, competence, and honesty this community deserves. As Mayor, I will deliver that.
— Nithya Raman (@nithyavraman) May 21, 2026
Nithya Raman, as an elected official of THE CITY's failed government, helped enable the disaster that befell fellow candidate Spencer Pratt's house, his parents', and ensured the destruction of over 16,000 structures that went up in flames with theirs.
Ms. Raman, even after the evidence of the fiery devastation and the lack of preparation that led to it, voted against hiring the recommended number of new Los Angeles firefighters, while the council's budget kept Mayor Bass's 'signature' homelessness initiative largely intact.
To be clear - that's an everyday LA homeless person from the street being housed at $7000 a month.
There is no such 'signature' program from Mayor Bass or the city council for the homeless they created in Pacific Palisades, Altadena, or elsewhere.
Of the 227 additional firefighters requested, Raman and the council generously offered up enough money for 58.
...The council provided enough money for the LAPD to hire 240 new officers over the coming year, down from the 480 proposed by Bass last month. That reduction would leave the LAPD with about 8,400 officers in June 2026, down from about 8,700 this year and 10,000 in 2020.
The council also scaled back the number of new hires the mayor proposed for the Los Angeles Fire Department in the wake of the wildfire that ravaged huge stretches of Pacific Palisades.
Bass’ budget called for the hiring of 227 additional Fire Department employees. The council provided funding for the department to expand by an estimated 58 employees.
Three council members — John Lee, Traci Park and Monica Rodriguez — voted against the budget, in large part due to cost-cutting efforts at the two public safety agencies. Park, whose district includes Pacific Palisades, voiced alarm over those and other reductions.
“I just can’t in good conscience vote for a budget that makes our city less safe, less physically sound and even less responsive to our constituents,” she said.
Rodriguez offered a similar message, saying the council should have shifted more money out of Inside Safe, Bass’ signature program to address homelessness. That program lacks oversight and has been extraordinarily expensive, said Rodriguez, who represents the northeast San Fernando Valley.
Additionally, Raman was a huge proponent of the COVID vaccine mandate that saw 113 firefighters fired for refusing the vaccine. The city finally dropped its mandate in 2024 and invited firefighters and EMTs to reapply for the positions they'd lost. But, at the same time, fire chiefs informed these folks that they would still be processing their original termination paperwork for refusing the mandate.
...When the mandate was active, several city firefighters were put on paid administrative leave for refusing to get vaccinated, and many more were fired. Now, with the vaccine mandate no longer in place, the Los Angeles Fire Department is calling those put on paid leave back into the field. But, the city still plans to have those firefighters go through their Board of Rights hearings, which could ultimately result in them being fired.
What kind of lunatics are on the city council?
IS NO ONE IN CHARGE?
LA City Councilwoman Nithya Raman, who does not find firefighters to be a priority even as she posts about yet another fire in the hills near Los Angeles, finally made her way to the scorched hillsides of her own city, although not to check on construction progress or help with permits. That would have meant she was in charge vice this mythical 'city' entity.
No. It was for a campaign stop.
Yes, but you just came to the Palisades today to do a photo opp. Where have you been for 17 months? Spencer has been moving mountains for us the entire time. pic.twitter.com/fz9LvbUFy2

It has been 500 days with 'no one in charge,' and the reservoirs are still empty.
This is not just incompetence but negligence and a total govt failure. The County needs to suspend the permitting bureaucracy and expedite plan approvals. How has this not been done?
— Katy Grimes (@KATYSaccitizen) May 20, 2026
NO ONE IS IN CHARGE
Precisely. There is no coordinated city effort & there is no leadership. Just like during the disaster there is no one in "charge." There are places you can go talk to bureaucrats who tell you why you can't or how you filled out the wrong form. We need a "make it happen" leader. pic.twitter.com/zn2OQECDBw

I would like to offer that Nithya Raman IS one of the leaders who made those empty lots, homeless souls, and charred, horrific memories happen, however much recollection of her personal culpability is dimmed and twisted by ego and the necessities of her current campaign.
Raman's bitter, socialist, Malthusian ideology has continued to compound the misery of those she was elected to serve.
Nithya Raman faces growing blowback as residents and political allies question her leadership
Residents in Nithya Raman’s district are sounding the alarm, accusing the progressive candidate who vowed to amplify their voices of leaving them shut out, ignored and unable to get answers from her office.
...Now, as Raman seeks Los Angeles’ highest office, critics across her district describe a very different experience, one they say left them frustrated, shut out and struggling to be heard.
In speaking with The California Post, residents repeatedly cited the same frustrations: unanswered calls, difficulty securing meetings and feeling shut out of decisions shaping their communities.
“I was shocked and horrified at how she treated people,” said Shira Scott Astrof, who lives near Runyon Canyon. Astrof said her frustrations with the councilmember began while trying to help residents in her building navigate affordable housing concerns and fears over potentially losing their housing.
...Over time, Kalban said the experience left her questioning Raman’s willingness to collaborate.
“She has an idea of what she wants to do and no interest in talking to anybody that can offer balance,” Kalban said. “Nithya looks like she’s a friendly person, but of all the people we’ve worked with, she is very much an island.”
And this sudden bout of convenient progressive amnesia will do little to mitigate the harm she's done or temper the picayune, Dystopian restrictions on Los Angelenos that she continually advocates for.
Instead of, like, you know - hiring firemen.
Since it’s National BBQ day, I wanted to bring this up.

Did you know that LA Mayoral candidate Nithya Raman wants to ban backyard BBQs? pic.twitter.com/k7TuXR8WOr
The nebulous city that has no one in charge now needs Nithya Raman, who can't seem to remember the past six years.
[CUE: insert obligatory goose mem]
Socialists and progressive Democrats are the masters of shameless revisionist history with a healthy side of 'WHUT?' as long as they're talking to each other.
It's when they start pitching these twisted fairy tales to the rest of us that their version of history comes crashing back to earth after a mighty collision with reality.
And do they ever get cranky when called out on it, as if their BS is supposed to have some special dispensation attached to it.
I love how every article like this is like, "Hi, I'm a disabled, transgender anchor baby whose family's existence was drain on American taxpayers. I hate children and my sexual fetish is watching homeless drug addicts writhing in their own feces on the sidewalk so I love the… https://t.co/BfHZw1LVjx

...so I love the status quo here in LA. Anyway, please vote for the candidate that will allow me to keep pleasuring myself to the sight of living corpses on our streets."
No one's in charge of the city.
I can't wait to see the Pratt ads that hit the innerwebs after this thread.
They should be lit.
