This is some pretty scary news out of Austin, Texas, right now.
News reports indicate that since last night, there have been what police are calling 'multiple random shootings' across the city. So far, they can account for nine incidents, with four people injured.
They've had issued a shelter-in-place for a huge section of it.

...Up to NINE shootings have taken place since last night, and four have been shot.
Two fire stations have also been shot at, and police are looking for suspect(s) possible in their late teens.
Supposedly, they’re switching between the vehicles seen below.
Anyone in Austin with info is encouraged to call 911 immediately.
But they've just announced that the order has been lifted. They have two suspects in custody and one remaining at large.
UPDATE: The shelter in place for the south Austin area has been lifted, and two suspects are in custody. One remains at large in the Manor area. More information to follow. https://t.co/8ZBsDsjbvc

They also updated the number of shooting incidents to 10.
Of the victims: the Austin police chief said one person received serious injuries from the gunshot wounds.
Two suspects have been arrested and the search continues for a third in connection with multiple shootings across Austin on Saturday and Sunday. A shelter-in-place that had been issued for a large area of South Austin has now been lifted.
The suspects have carried out up to 10 attacks, injuring as many as four people, according Austin Police Department Chief Lisa Davis. One victim sustained serious injuries, and the other three have minor injuries.
...As of around 4:25 p.m., APD said two suspects were in custody. A third remains at large in the Manor area.
The suspects were driving a black or dark blue 2012 Hyundai Sonata with a broken right passenger window, pictured below. Police said the suspects have been stealing and switching vehicles. The suspects may also be driving a gold Hyundai sedan, silver Mazda four-door or a white Kia Optima, police said. Davis has urged residents to not leave their vehicles unlocked.
Apparently, these three had been joyriding around since last night, even changing cars at a couple of points, according to Mayor Kirk Watson's earlier press conference.
Beege MORE: Two Hispanic males in their late teens were part of the original BOLO parameters, and there's been no update on whether this third suspect is any different. They are also issuing repeatedly LOCK YOU DAMN CAR warnings because that is apparently how these gun-toting joyriders got every last set of wheels they used.
This was the earlier BOLO release and the local CBS affiliate has just posted it again, so it makes me think the third individual fits the profile.
🔴If you know of anyone in Austin, TX, make sure they're aware of this! CBS Austin is reporting two are in custody but police are still searching for a third person.

Apparently, Austin PD managed to track two of them to a barn, where the suspects barricaded themselves for a while before being arrested.

Just guessing, but this might have been when they took off onfoot towards the barn where they were evntually snatched up.

The suspects were last known to be traveling in a white KIA Optima. https://t.co/ktHVwsWeJQ pic.twitter.com/mlVKhhtcaL
There's quite a police presence.
Makes me kind of nauseous looking at all the circles.

Right now, everyone's leaning toward random knuckleheads, but they're waiting on another briefing to start.
I'll have more as it comes in, including if they catch amigo numero tres.
Beege MORE: So, catching up on some of this press conference, the chief said two juveniles, 15 and 17, the fifteen-year-old stole the gun, but the 17-year-old had a warrant on him for stealing weapons from the 'same store'? And because they're juveniles, they can't 'interview them' and are taking them to juvy hall.
Well. There are a lot of unanswered questions hanging in the air.
The CBS station has most of the news conference.
This is kind of irritating. Some police chase video from earlier.

The video shows this vehicle fleeing from the police in Manor, the same area where one of the suspects is at large. Awaiting confirmation that this vehicle was related to the suspects in the Austin shooting;
And the local CBS station says they are still searching for the third guy, telling folks in one area to be cognizant of 'heavy police activity.'
Maybe keep your doors locked, too?
Manor police are continuing to search for the third suspect involved in a series of shootings across Austin.

Residents should expect a heavy law enforcement presence on North FM 973 and surrounding areas.

This is a very weird way to run a city.

These were largely drive by or random gunfire directed at homes, apartment buildings, and two fire stations.
Four people shot. One victim was critically injured and received blood at the scene before transport to a trauma center and is now reported in stable condition. The other three sustained minor injuries. No fatalities reported.
A 15 and 17 year old, both described as young Hispanic males are in custody. The 17 year old had an active warrant for gun theft.
A 3rd suspect is still at large.
Austin residents becoming just a tad jaded...
Press: Any details on the shooters who just terrorized the city?
— Chris Harris (@chrisharris904) May 17, 2026
DA: Oh, thank the Lord! They're juveniles!
Bulletproof exception unlocked.
Names? Records? Criminal history? Sorry, that's secret under "protect the precious youth" statutes.
...Disturbing detail... At 8:47am Sunday a man was shot in the back while walking his dog
Less than an hour ago, Austin PD was still clearing areas, looking for the other nice kid.
Austin shootings update: Law enforcement has cleared the area along FM 973 in Manor. One APD officer we spoke to said they feel like they’ve searched the area thoroughly and are confident the suspect is no longer in the area. It’s unclear what area that suspect had moved to but… pic.twitter.com/LHWgsGYsic
