Sometimes, there aren't such adherents to the religion of the Climate Cult that current events, security, and reason are able to overcome the strictures and deprivations that were previously imposed in the name of Gaia and all things Green.
Such is the case in Scandinavia, where the Norwegian government has made a couple of announcements that have people in Europe pretty excited, and given people in the United Kingdom one more reason to despise their Labour overlords the day before a nationwide local councils election.
The first big news out of Oslo was the announcement that the government was reopening three old oil and gas fields that had been closed since 1998.
– It is a pleasure to be able to approve the reopening of three fields in the North Sea; Albuskjell, Vest-Ekofisk and Tommeliten Gamma. The three fields will create great value for the community, and demonstrate the importance of existing infrastructure, says Minister of Energy Terje Aasland.
...The companies behind the three developments are Vår Energi, ConocoPhillips, ORLEN and Petoro. All fields consist of gas with some condensate and are located in the southern part of the North Sea, approximately 5-10 kilometers west of Ekofisk. The licensees refer to the developments as Previously Produced Fields (PPF).
...The developments are expected to have major value creation and employment effects in Norway. Development and operation of the fields is expected to generate approximately 7,600 man-years in total over their lifetime, with the greatest need for labor in the development and start-up phases.
...Vest Ekofisk, Albuskjell and Tommeliten Gamma were discovered in the 1970s and put into production between 1977 and 1988. In 1998, all three fields were shut down as a result of a redevelopment of the Ekofisk field.
Not to mention continued profits, which never hurt, as most go to the national Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund.
There were some other parties who were very happy to hear about these new sources of evil fossil fuels coming online, the same ones who continue to eschew opportunities to develop and optimize their own natural resources. Or, in other cases, such as the UK's Ed Miliband, have gone out of their way to destroy the oil and gas industry themselves through virtue-signaling, now importing what they once had readily at their feet for the taking.
The fruits of the newest Norwegian efforts will be going to the two most unworthy, self-defeating supplicants imaginable - Germany and the UK - to help them extend their Net Zero unicorn fart-fueled Green fantasy life.
...The gas will be exported to Emden in Germany and the condensates, a liquid mixture of light hydrocarbons, to Teeside in Britain.
“Norwegian production of oil and gas is an important contribution to energy security in Europe,” Energy Minister Terje Aasland said in the statement.
The fact that the Norwegians are drilling in the same seabed as the vaunted British North Sea oil industry used to - and were told there was 'none left' by none other than Minister Miliband - has not escaped notice.

Miliband's nonsense about banning exploration and drilling licenses for lack of product is ringing especially hollow and creating a great deal of anger, as the Norwegian government had a second announcement to go along with the wells reopening that puts lie to everything Miliband has been claiming. The country is opening 70 new blocks of exploration, with some of those in the North Sea.
It's a massive new investment.

Norway is already Europe's largest gas supplier it replaced Russia.
But without new investment, output peaks 2030 and declines.
These moves are Oslo's answer to that cliff edge.
For Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK, this is an insurance policy .
Europe's gas supply just got extended to 2048.
Whether that's a lifeline or a lock-in is the question nobody wants to answer yet.
An investment that is going to add trillions to an already trillions-overstuffed Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund.
Just as another Norwegian gaseous gift to themselves and Europe did seemingly overnight.
With little fanfare but clear strategic impact, Equinor has brought the long-forgotten Eirin gas field into production, sending fresh gas volumes into Europe’s system at a moment when security of supply still outweighs nearly every other energy priority. The project may not be large by global standards, but its timing, speed, and symbolism speak far louder than its size.
Once written off as uneconomic, Eirin is now flowing gas through the Gina Krog platform and onward via the Sleipner A hub, reinforcing Norway’s position as Europe’s most dependable energy supplier at a time when reliability matters more than ambition.
Europe Still Needs Gas—And Norway Is Still Delivering
Despite years of political messaging around electrification and rapid demand reduction, the reality is that Europe remains structurally short of natural gas. Domestic production continues to decline, LNG markets remain tight, and geopolitical risk is now a permanent feature rather than an exception.
That backdrop explains why Eirin, holding expected recoverable resources of about 27.6 million barrels of oil equivalent, mainly gas, suddenly carries strategic weight. The field’s gas is exported through the Gassled network, while liquids are sent to Kårstø for processing, making full use of Norway’s mature and highly efficient infrastructure.
The key is 'ONCE' written off as 'uneconomic.' It now makes economic sense and roared back to life.

Activist climate scientists, journalists and Net Zero-obsessed politicians are in shock following an official admission from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that a set of key assumptions promoting a climate ‘crisis’ since 2011 are “implausible”. The notorious set of always-improbable RCP8.5 ‘pathway’ assumptions which fed into computer models trying to measure an unmeasurable climate are no more. Since around 2011, these ‘business as usual’ assumptions have produced outlandish claims of future climate catastrophe which have been lapped up by lap dog journalists and politicians. The influential writer Roger Pielke Jr. called RCP8.5’s demise, “the most significant development in climate research in decades”.
Others might observe that we have not heard the last of RCP8.5. Its gross misuse is likely to be given a starring, central role when the history of the Great Climate and Net Zero Scam comes to be written.
Pielke lays it out clearly what has happened:
What matters today is that the group with official responsibility for developing climate scenarios for the IPCC and broader research community has now admitted that the scenarios that have dominated climate research, assessment and policy during the past two cycles of the IPCC assessment process are implausible. They describe impossible futures.
He goes on to note that tens of thousands of research papers have been and continue to be published using these scenarios. In addition, a similar number of media headlines have “amplified their findings”, while governments and international organisations have built these implausible scenarios into policy and regulation.
It cannot be over-emphasised how important this finding of implausibility is. It means that almost every fearmongering mainstream media climate headline and story that has been written over the last 15 years is junk. Of course it also explains why a growing band of sceptical commentators have refused to accept the political concept of ‘settled’ science and have engaged in widespread debunking. Shooting fish in a barrel is one way of describing this work. At times, with just a modicum of investigative scepticism, the stories can be seen as little more than an insult to average human intelligence.
