Carville: Democrats Can Save Democracy by Making DC a State and Packing the Court

Democratic strategist James Carville has a podcast called Politics War Room which seems to be getting him in trouble this week. Yesterday he suggested a new approach for Democrats who wanted to "save democracy." But it relies on them first winning the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. That seems pretty unlikely at this moment but Carville says it's not impossible.

In any case, once Democrats have the trifecta, Carville wants them to create two new states and pack the Supreme Court.

Democratic strategist James Carville urged on Wednesday that Democrats open "Pandora’s Box" and execute multiple controversial power grabs to "save democracy," including establishing a permanent electoral majority the next time they gain power.

"The Democrats talk about democracy – the importance of democracy and preserving democracy and saving democracy," Carville said. "Well, the truth of the matter is, people are right when they say this democracy is really imperfect."...

"They are just going to have to unilaterally add Puerto Rico and District of Columbia states," Carville said.

"They're going to have to do it. They're just going to have to do it. And they may have to expand the [Supreme Court] to 13 members," he said.

Here's the clip:

This isn't the first time these ideas have been raised before but it's interesting to see Carville making the argument instead of some Democratic Socialist. At 80, Carville is supposed to be the wise old man of his party. He's the guy who coined the phrase "It's the economy, stupid." He's supposed to be a voice of practicality and moderation.

And to be fair, he has often been that voice in the recent past. He's specifically counseled his party, over and over, to drop the woke word games and talk like regular people. He's also the guy who called David Hogg a "contemptible little twerp" which pretty much sums it up. So to hear that guy suddenly go all Leeroy Jenkins!!! on his party's future is a bit surprising.

Needless to say it's a terrible idea. Once you start packing the court you pretty much guarantee that someone else will do the same the next chance they get. Why stop at 13 Justices when we can have 19

As for minting new states specifically to create a Democratic advantage in the Senate, that's also a long road, one which would probably require a new Amendment to the Constitution. Good luck with that.

Guy Benson makes the obvious point that Republicans have the power right now that Carville hopes Democrats will have after 2028. Should Republicans take up his agenda and pack the court and create new states while they can? I think we all know how that would go.

This isn't the only time Carville's podcast has gone off the rails lately. In a previous episode he suggested that Trump was trying to hide First Lady Melania Trump's involvement with Epstein.

The First Lady's attorney contacted Carville and warned him to take down those comments or else face a lawsuit. Yesterday he complied and issued this apology.

Editor’s Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
