Black Lives Don't Matter

You probably haven’t heard this story, but a young black man was killed last weekend.

Marvins Antoine, 18, was a freshman running back on the UMass Dartmouth football team when he was stabbed and killed in a Wendy’s parking lot in Providence in the early morning hours of Sept. 19. The team had just suffered a heartbreaking 23-21 defeat against Framingham State and had gone out afterward.

More than a week later, there are still substantial gaps in the public account of exactly what happened.

Antoine and fellow freshman teammate Kensley Macean, 19, were at Mezzo Lounge when an altercation broke out. Police say the confrontation spilled outside and across the street into the Wendy’s parking lot, where Antoine was stabbed in the chest, and Macean was also stabbed. Macean survived.

The suspect, Chukwunonso Uzoma David Uzoma-Eze, was arrested after investigators used license-plate-reader technology to trace the vehicle linked to him to UMass Dartmouth.

And then the story gets considerably more interesting.

As you can probably guess, Uzoma-Eze was not legally entitled to remain in the United States indefinitely.
