WashEx: During the debate, el Sayed was asked whether he regretted inflammatory rhetoric after recently saying during a donor Zoom call that if he won the primary, he would have “no problem” backing primary challenges against lawmakers such as Fetterman.
“Ideally, you put one ogre on a pike, and then everyone else gets the message,” el Sayed said during the call, according to audio obtained by Politico.
Asked whether the race would benefit from a more civil tone, el Sayed said the remark was directed solely at Fetterman, whom he accused of abandoning the values on which he was elected.
“I was referring to a guy named John Fetterman, who’s a senator from Pennsylvania who has done terrible things, got elected on a set of values, and is now completely throwing those values in the mud,” el Sayed said. “I think it’s important for all of us to have an honest opinion about what we’re going to do to make sure that our Senate looks like the people it represents.”
Ed: Amusingly, El-Sayed then went on to claim the mantle of civility in the debate. He also complained about "outside spending" despite his own campaign floating on millions provided by his father-in-law's super-PAC. As for throwing values in the mud, El-Sayed is referring to support for Israel, on which Fetterman has been constant and which the Democrat Party supported until Hamas' massacre on October 7.

Fetterman is signalling that he's just about fed up with the anti-Semitic drift of his party and will refuse to participate in it. That's why El-Sayed called Fetterman an "ogre," setting him up as a target for the DSA-drenched activists in the Democrat Party.

The occasion was an anti-ICE riot. Gutierrez and a confederate took advantage of the chaos to steal a rifle and ammunition from the FBI, who were participating in crowd control as local police wouldn’t lift a finger. ...
Now billed out of suburban Inver Grove Heights (MN), the Gutierrez origin story is now a state secret, the judge having ordered all documents with background information to be sealed for 20 years. I’m not kidding.
District Judge John Tunheim relied heavity on the Gutierrez sob story in handing down a relatively light sentence of 4-and-a-half years in prison. And he owes the FBI resitution of $4,000. But where Gutierrez is from and what he has suffered in his 33 years, you, the public, aren’t allowed to know.
Ed: This is outrageous, and I suspect that it won’t stand up to scrutiny. Glahn and/or Scott Johnson might push for a FOIA-type challenge to these sealed records. Alpha News might get involved too. I wonder if the DoJ might challenge the sentence and/or the seal. This is not a matter of national security; I suspect the judge doesn’t want the public to see the perp’s prior record.

Axios: Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) demanded that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) verbally address constituents and demonstrate his ability to serve or resign his seat in a blunt letter sent to the senator and his staff.
The big picture: It's been more than 40 days since 84-year-old conservative stalwart McConnell has appeared outside of pictures released by his office after being hospitalized. His lengthy absence and past health scares are fueling speculation about his capacity to serve.
Driving the news: Beshear said in the letter that it was also being sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), whom Beshear urged to investigate McConnell's capacity to serve.
Ed: Is there a partisan motive for this letter? Clearly. However, Beshear does have a responsibility to ensure that his state is properly represented in the Senate, and the first level of that is to make sure their Senator is still alive. McConnell and his team need to deal with this situation, or admit that the situation is different than they have let on.

T. Becket Adams: Mamdani went on to urge the federal government “to join the ICC and execute this warrant” and “defend the humanity and dignity of all people.”
Ordinarily one would chalk this up to a shrewd politician’s attempt to save face for a broken campaign promise—a bit of playacted disappointment meant to appease the disheartened faithful. In normal times one would also look back at Mamdani’s election-year promise to arrest Netanyahu and dismiss it as silly campaign slop meant to satiate the glutinous piggies.
But the good mayor, who became a naturalized citizen in 2018, is not normal. It’s getting harder to tell whether he is merely cunning or whether he truly believes that New York City is his to rule, separate from the rest of the Union and unbound by federal law.
Remember: this “arrest Netanyahu” business did not occur in a vacuum.

Douglas Murray at The Free Press: By now it’s all starting to sound like a bad joke. An Islamist terrorist drives a van into a Berlin Pride parade, killing one person and injuring dozens more. And how is it reported? Much of the media went with the usual formulation: that the attacker might as well have been a self-automated vehicle. The white van “didn’t exactly hit the parade,” one typical report went, but as it drove through the parade it “attacked the people who were going away from the parade.”
As I have had cause to say too many times, this is something which, from Stockholm to Nice, is best understood as the “naughty van” phenomenon. If a van or car is driven into a crowd by an Islamist, you can swiftly tell who the culprit is because the vehicle will be talked about as though it suddenly took on a life of its own and began a rampage.
The reality is even more repetitive. The perpetrator of Saturday’s attack was a 21-year-old called Abdul Ballout. Born in Germany, of Lebanese parentage, last year he reportedly went to Lebanon to try to get to Syria in order to join ISIS. Arrested in Lebanon, he served three months in prison for a range of offenses including incitement to religious and sectarian conflict.
Ed: Ballout is German in the same sense as Ibraheem is British – in name only. Read it all. The socialists and the Islamists share the same ambition for armed revolution, just with very different outcomes.
