Prime Minister Carney, whom transnationalists believe is such an economic genius that he has run central banks on two continents, is helping drive his country's economy into the ground. He first ran Canada's central bank from 2008 to 2013, and did such a bang-up job that England snatched him up to run roughshod over its own economy until 2020.
He's got a long record of bad economic decision-making, running ESG efforts, pushing climate change policies that cripple economies, and now he is engaged in a damaging trade war with Donald Trump. He is a one-man wrecking ball for worldwide and state-level economic growth, and keeps failing upward.
At least he looks the part. If he were in a lineup and you were asked, "Who's the transnationalist technocrat?," Carney would be your first choice.
Canada lost another 68,000 jobs in September following Prime Minister Mark Carney’s globalist war on Trump. This follows the previous month’s job losses of 41,700 in August. Maybe Carney was not so smart in pitting his country’s workers against the world’s largest economy? Since Carney took on Trump, the US created 975,000 jobs and Canada lost 110,000 jobs! If you scaled up Canada's job losses over the past two months to match the United States labor market, the equivalent would be about 900,000 jobs lost. That is an atrocious record for a man so credentialed that few people in the world could match his number of positions held, proving once again that credentials should almost be taken as the inverse of actual competence.
Plenty of people attribute the job losses to the trade war, but I think that overstates the connection. The trade war is just one of many bad decisions Carney has made lately, all of which connect to Canada's bad economic policies dating back to when Carney led the Bank of Canada and pushed ESG and climate change policies.
Add those policies together, and you get an economy that is struggling, even compared to the sluggish growth in the European Union. As an associate member of that organization, it can compete for the slot of "worst-run economy" in an association where all the member states are badly run.
With Canada's economy in such a precarious state, cutting a deal with Trump is about the most obvious thing any sane person could do. Would it be embarrassing? Of course it would. Is Trump being a bully? That's his nature. He sees an advantage and grabs it, which is why he tends to get what he wants.
In Thucydides' Melian Dialogue from the History of the Peloponnesian War, one of the most famous lines is "the strong do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must." We can argue all we want about whether that is fair — it isn't — but it's hard to argue that it isn't true. That is the nature of international politics.

Carney is a lightweight trying to fight a heavyweight, and he's doing it while his country is already economically undernourished. He and many Canadians may see themselves as bravely standing up to a bully, which feels emotionally satisfying, but it is also stupid. A little embarrassment is a small price to pay for a massive increase in prosperity for his citizens.
If only Carney were paying the price, you could argue he is being "plucky" for taking on the United States of America. He's preparing for a kinetic war, fighting a trade war, and when Canada pays the price, he will leave office sitting pretty and ready to fail upward again.
Not so for average Canadians, who are getting poorer by the day.
