Trump's victory in 2024 and the successes during his first year in office may have given us an inflated sense of how much progress we have made in beating back the woke mob.
To be fair, we've had a few victories that really matter, especially when it comes to saving children from the clutches of the gender butchers. We should savor every victory, and be glad that in 2024 the pushback against woke did move a few votes when it mattered in the presidential campaign.
But we also have to acknowledge that the progress the woke made during the Biden years far outstrips the progress we have made in pushing it back. DEI departments may be renamed, but they are not gone. The New York Public Schools are reducing standards, not increasing them. Blue states are still codifying abortion until birth, and liberal women are getting crazier, not saner, and now embracing child murder.
You've read about the Massachusetts lesbian bar fiasco and had a good chuckle, as I have. But it is a reminder that the mindset that gave us what AOC calls Woke One is still alive and well, and Woke 2.0 is just Woke One with Palestine tacked on top of it.

There really hasn't been a societal sea change, just a slight recalibration to bring center-left independents back on board to get votes in the midterms. The agenda hasn't retreated; it has retrenched just enough to survive and recapture power.
I see no indication that the left has become less extreme; in fact, the candidates winning primaries are substantially more extreme, and more open about it. They are members of and/or fellow travelers with a cult of communists who openly talk about revolution, and it's quite possible a majority or plurality of Americans will vote for these people.
As we learned during the Jay Jones fiasco or while watching the left-wing celebration of Charlie Kirk's assassination, the left is, if anything, even more insane today than it was two years ago when they were winning every argument.

It’s like, you don’t think you need to examine this? You’re not the president. You’re just the CEO of a business.”
The biggest change is that some of us are making fun of these crazy people, but that's not the same thing as winning the cultural war. I am afraid that if, as seems likely, the Democrats make significant gains in Congress, much of the progress will dry up.
We talk about 80/20 issues, but obviously the issues are not yet salient enough to move enough votes. That's not the case for the left, which makes them the core of their political efforts. If killing babies at nine months is the top priority for lefties, while preventing it is issue #6 on a list for conservatives, they win.
None of this means not pressuring our representatives to be better on every issue, but too many of us forget that politics is downstream from culture, and we have to win these battles at least as much, and often before, we win others.
