Abdul El-Sayed is trailing Mike Rogers by several points in the Michigan Senate race, unsurprisingly. It's just what the Democrats feared and why they put in all that money and effort to derail his campaign during the primary.
But one group is keeping him in the race, aside from the "Vote Blue No Matter Who" crowd: white college-educated women, who are either the Blue-haired college lesbians or the AWFLs who are determined to prove that they are not racist.
Also from the pollsters' analysis: "El-Sayed is underperforming with Black voters, women and suburban voters compared with former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Rogers similarly trails Trump’s 2024 support among voters under age 30 and…
Let's set aside, for the moment, the ridiculous performance of the polls this primary election season and assume, again for the moment, that the problems pollsters had were driven by the exceptional circumstances that come from highly-contested primaries between candidates whose supporters are deeply divided along demographic lines, and assume that this poll tells us something vaguely real.
Yes, I know, that's a tough sell, but there is at least some argument to be made that inter-party polling in a general election will be more reliable than intra-party polling in a highly-contested primary. Roll with me here. Especially since the poll seems to confirm evidence we've seen elsewhere.
From the Fox poll, Rogers vs. el Sayed in Michigan:
— Byron York (@ByronYork) August 14, 2026
White men, no college degree: Rogers 63 el Sayed 37
White men, college degree: Rogers 55 el Sayed 43
White women, no college degree: Rogers 60 el Sayed 38
White women, college degree: Rogers 37 el Sayed 60
White women with a college degree stick out like a sore thumb in the polling, preferring El-Sayed by 20 points more than their male counterparts, and more than 20 points more than female non-college white voters.
That's not a small deviation; it's an indicator that screams loudly, flashes a red light, turns on a siren at 120 dB, and has Leslie Nielsen waving his hands saying that there is nothing to see here.
There has been a gender gap in voting for decades, but in recent years it has gotten much more stark. Back in the 90s and aughts, Republicans went to great pains to reach out to the soccer moms, and I am certain that many still try, but the fact is that there is no appeasing this particular group of voters who seem dedicated to expressing their feelz at the ballot box instead of using their rational faculties.
Lest you think that is a sexist attack, please note that non-college-educated white women are not similarly afflicted. Lacking an education steeped in ridiculous gender and racist ideology, they seem normal enough. You won't find them attending Race2Dinner feasts where they pay ridiculous sums to be told they are racist, and they don't have either the time or the inclination to learn every pronoun or native tribe that ever set foot in their neighborhood.
They have to go to real jobs and raise kids and worry about the car payment. They don't have time to cosplay being antiracist.
I have a good feeling about the Michigan senate race, but am not 100 percent confident. This is an off-year election in which the president is not popular and the mood of the country is pretty sour, so the deck is stacked against Republicans. So El-Sayed has a chance despite his many flaws.

That wouldn't be the case but for the fact that college-educated white women are insane, at least as a class. Plenty of Democrats look at El-Sayed and see a man unfit to be in office. Even many minorities who always vote Democrat find him to be far too left to vote for.
But these particular women? They see voting for him as an opportunity to pay electoral reparations for generations of faux-oppression; El-Sayed is about as privileged as one can get without being born a billionaire, but that doesn't matter.
He is a symbol to them, not a human being, and they will make a statement as they vote to destroy the West.
