Actually, the snowflakes are worried they might melt in Palm Beach due to the renaming of the airport there to "President Donald J. Trump Airport, which will have its three-letter code changed to DJT.
United Airlines was apparently worried that some patrons would be too offended at the code change—the name had already been changed—and would cancel their flights. So the airline sent a memo to their reservation agents informing them that they could expand their fee-free change policies to accommodate the deranged passengers.
A travel site called 'Live and Let Fly' (hmmm, a rather odd reference to "Live and Let Die," so not for the faint of heart) got a hold of the memo and shared it.
United Airlines is preparing for customers who may object to flying into an airport named for President Donald Trump, and reservation agents have been authorized to move those passengers to Fort Lauderdale or Miami without charging more.
United Will Let Customers Avoid “DJT” Airport And Fly To Miami Or Fort Lauderdale Instead
United Airlines is giving reservation agents unusual flexibility to accommodate customers who no longer want to fly to West Palm Beach after the airport was renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
According to an internal memo shared with Live And Let’s Fly, United is the process of updating its systems to rename West Palm Beach Airport (PBI) to President Donald J. Trump (DJT).
But the most interesting guidance concerns customers who object to the airport’s new name.
United tells reservation agents:
“If a customer does not want to fly to the airport, use your empowerment to offer acceptable alternatives such as Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) or Miami International Airport (MIA).”
The memo even provides a suggested response:
“I understand that you’d rather not fly to this airport anymore. We can look at nearby airports like Fort Lauderdale or Miami instead. Is that an acceptable alternative?”
Agents are then instructed to process the change as an even exchange.
When this report got out, United found itself in a bind: they were trying to accommodate the Trump-deranged and soothe them before the heat melted the snowflakes, and now others are making fun of them or even angry that they were endorsing the idea that an airport named after Trump was legitimately a reason to change your destination.

United Airlines is reportedly allowing some passengers to change their flights for free if they don't want to land at Florida's newly renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
An internal memo obtained by Live And Let's Fly instructed reservation agents to offer no-cost alternatives, including nearby Fort Lauderdale or Miami, to travelers who object to flying into the airport.
The guidance even included a suggested response for agents: "I understand that you'd rather not fly to this airport anymore..."
United told FOX Business the memo was "poorly worded and not accurate."
So they are kinda, sorta, not quite denying the report, which after all is based on a real memo that spells out their sympathy for having to deal with the fact that Trump exists.
United Airlines is pushing back on a report that passengers could change their destination airport for free if they object to flying into Florida’s newly renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
Live And Let’s Fly, an airline industry blog, published what it described as an internal memo telling reservation agents they could offer alternatives such as Fort Lauderdale or Miami to customers who did not want to fly into the airport, formerly known as Palm Beach International Airport.
United told USA TODAY the message was poorly worded and not accurate. United customers are able to make changes to a ticket without a fee for many reasons. However, (their) policy doesn’t allow for changes because of an airport’s name or three-letter code.
Pure corporate-speak.
It was probably some HR lady who noticed the change in the airport destination code and who resolved never to fly there that started the whole ball rolling.
United Airlines is, as with many large corporations, quite woke. They promote their all-female flight crews and are heavily into LGBTQIA+ promotion, so we really shouldn't be surprised that this sort of thing just seems normal to them.
But it sure is funny to see.
