Now that the Democratic Socialists of America are sweeping into power and beginning to displace the Organized Crime Democrats as the key leaders of the Democratic Party, some elements of the Pravda Media are working hard to claim that the DSA is not filled with communists.
It's true that there are people who call themselves "socialists" who are not, at least precisely, communists. The DSA used to work hard to keep the communist revolutionaries out of the party. But first, that was decades ago, before the revolutionary communists swamped the people who liked the Nordic model of the 60s and 70s (which they gave up decades ago, denationalizing industries and embracing a capitalist economic model with high taxes and high social insurance). Now the party is nothing but a skinsuit for revolutionary Marxists.
The distinction was always fuzzy, but now basically doesn't exist at all. The arguments by media figures like Kaitlan Collins that socialism is somehow distinct from communism, and that the DSA is not remotely a communist organization, are based on a combination of her ignorance and depend on the ignorance of the viewers.
The most recent crop of “Democrat socialists” (the Zohranites) actually are communists - the “socialism” is transitional.

Communists have always called themselves socialists. And I don't just mean they do so in some sort of "Maskirova" way, but it was a key part of their identity. The USSR was the "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." Marxism is named after Karl Marx, obviously. But he didn't call his philosophy "Marxism."
He called it "scientific socialism."
The media folks who are smarter than Collins know this well, but are just trying to hide the fact. Just as Politifact went out of its way to say that Zohran Mamdani, who openly talked about seizing the means of production, was not a communist because...he didn't say he was.
DSA members and Palestinian Youth Movement activists say it plain and simple: "We have to destroy the idea of America."

Graham Platner, who called himself a communist, surely isn't because his platform doesn't use the word.
The New York Times regularly platforms Hasan Piker as a voice for the left, despite the fact that he openly and often calls for violence, and it takes zero effort to go to a DSA Zoom call and see speaker after speaker, including the top leaders, call for revolution and the destruction of the West and capitalism.
This is what Democrat Socialists want:

“[America] has to be overthrown through revolutionary struggle.” pic.twitter.com/l2LGwbOxeU
Key members of the DSA leadership are quite open about calling for revolutionary violence. Obviously, DSA candidates who are trying to win elections don't get up on the stump and rail about putting people up against the wall, but the party they belong to does.
This is my second look at the Red Rabbits as the project continues to evolve.

I genuinely think this is one of the most important aspects of the DSA to understand, especially as it keeps racking up wins nationwide and pushing more candidates into office.https://t.co/oS33ILb8dT
DSA says its Red Rabbits initiative is about “security.” But according to its own authorizing resolution, the project is preparing for a “national uprising against federal agents and police brutality.”A recent panel showed what that means in practice.“Takedowns on intersections,” training where participants practiced being pepper-sprayed, firearm-safety training, protest marshalling, umbrellas and signs to block “fascists,” and direct-action support for Palestine and immigrant-justice groups. The legal-risk issue was obvious enough that even the panelists kept circling it. They talked about compliance, liability, tax purposes, and how far DSA could push this without putting the organization at risk. One organizer even described keeping a project DSA-sponsored but not fully DSA-run, so the fallout would not “come back to the DSA.”
If the media were interested in doing a deep dive into the DSA, they easily could. It wouldn't require anyone to go undercover to find the hidden meaning behind the rhetoric. The rhetoric is right there out in the open, just as the Antifa violence is there for all to see.
Instead we get the "mostly peaceful" explanations that were given about the George Floyd riots, which left billions of dollars in damage, dead bodies, and burned out stretches of cities.
If you want to understand DSA as an organization, its national leadership, and how that leadership has shifted toward a Communist majority over the past few years, I highly recommend my most recent article. https://t.co/ImQJntDV8C

🚨 Meet the National DSA Leader Defending a “Community Force Under Communism”
Hazel Williams sits on DSA’s National Political Committee, formerly co-chaired California DSA, and helped craft the language in DSA’s new platform calling for “steps towards abolishing the carceral forces of the capitalist state.”
Williams makes clear that “abolish the police” does not necessarily mean no enforcement structure ever. It means abolishing police as a force of the capitalist state. In her own words, she does not mean abolishing “some community force under communism” that can “hold each other accountable.”
The leaders from the “Commie Caucuses,” DSA’s own internal term, are often the ones pushing the organization further and further left, while the media still debates whether DSA really means the radical things it says.
As media talking heads rush to condemn Trump for calling DSA electeds Communist, have they bothered to look at DSA’s board of directors, its National Political Committee, which is now majority Communist?
Some DSA members are eager for a violent revolution; others hope and believe that they can achieve power through the ballot box. But they all agree that the goal is the destruction of our society and economy as it is configured today. Seizing property, as Mamdani openly explains he will do, and adopting an economic and legal model akin to Cuba's or the old Soviet Union.
Democratic Socialists of America Co-Chair Ashik Siddique admits they support communism.

CAIN: “He says ‘our goal is communism’.”

Hasan Piker, who is now a hot ticket to campaign with or to host a podcast, promotes Lenin, Mao, and the Soviet Union as models.
If these people don't qualify as communists, who exactly does?
