Beege wrote a great post about the terror plot that would have resulted in a mass casualty event at the White House UFC event on Sunday.
A lot of you read that post, so I will go light on the details. The Bottom Line Up Front is that a group of radicals who wanted to inspire a revolution made elaborate and scary plans to execute a drone and sniper attack to take out Republicans, including President Trump, Vice President Vance, top Republicans, and Israel-aligned leaders on Sunday. They had the plans to make it happen, to escape, and a theory for why their attack would inspire an uprising.
The basics of the plot are pretty easy to understand, even if the eventual success of achieving the ultimate goal of inspiring a revolution seems nutty.
...According to court records, Proper said the group would meet up in Fredericksburg, Va., and use drones during a demonstration to blow up the north side of the UFC arena built outside the White House, then shoot the crowd as they evacuated to the south. The snipers would focus on high-value targets, like wealthy people and politicians, in order to jumpstart a revolution, the documents state, listing top targets as President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, and multiple members of Congress. Messages in the e-communications identified Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Jim Justice (R-W. Va.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W. Va.), and Reps. Carol Miller (R-W. Va.) and Riley Moore (R-W. Va.), as potential targets as they were recipients of AIPAC funds.
While Thomas told authorities he planned the UFC Freedom 250, according to court records, Alvarez allegedly posted a large portion of the planning information and provided direction to the other members in the chat group. There were also discussions on locations for snipers and drones, including where to fall back after the attack, noting that the Thomas Jefferson memorial offered the “cleanest route to exfiltrate from the area” and that some in the group would exit the area along the Potomac River.
Records show and had taken part in conversations about possible targets and a “trigger event,” encouraging the group to focus on “someone that can’t be easily turned into a right vs left thing we want someone both sides would celebrate... someone both sides would cheer and support us for taking out.” Eskridge also told authorities that he thought half the military and potentially about 3% of the population would join their cause.
There was also talk of a “second wave” of the plot involving power grids. Investigators said Alvarez noted in messages that “several actions and militia have been notified. They will be the teeth and the Shepherds,” records state. In a message on June 12, Alvarez said the fallback location would be an old church in Nebraska, and included a Google Streetview photo of the building, documents show.
I sincerely doubt the latter would happen, since they believed that a substantial portion of the military would side with the revolution, but commies gonna be commies.

DHS says Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez overstayed a B-2 visitor visa and received DACA in 2014. The FBI assessed that Alvarez was responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the planned attack. Alvarez detailed the plot in an encrypted group chat, including the planned use of “counter sniper(s) and drones,” with the explicit intention of being “as deadly as we can get.”
Per DHS: “Alvarez and his co-conspirators face federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Alvarez.”
As Beege pointed out, what we knew last night was that the ringleader was a "noncitizen." Today, the Department of Homeland Security expanded on that description, telling us that the man—Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez—was granted DACA status in 2014 by the Obama administration. He had been living in the country illegally after overstaying his visitor visa.
On June 16, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced federal charges for the five suspects, including Alvarez, who went by the alias “Shepherd.” The FBI assessed that Alvarez was responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the planned attack. Alvarez detailed the plot in an encrypted group chat, including the planned use of “counter sniper(s) and drones,” with the explicit intention of being “as deadly as we can get.”

“This illegal alien from Mexico should never have been allowed in our country. He was the ringleader of a failed terror attack targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “He and his co-conspirators now face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. He will face justice and swiftly be removed from our country.”
Alvarez entered the United States on a B2 visitor visa and failed to depart before it expired in December 2001. The Obama Administration granted him Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in 2014.

Alvarez is 31 years old, so, doing the math, he was six when he arrived here, presumably with his parents. They are illegal aliens who, due to the lax immigration enforcement of the past couple of decades, are quite prominent in the communities and doing very well.

You can expect that the left will work mightily to discredit the case, argue that Alvarez's status as an illegal alien is irrelevant, and that this is just another MAGA plot to create division. Alvarez and company will be turned into Right-Wing Terrorists, etc. Anything to redirect The Narrative. Pravda will likely do its best to bury the case.

Narrative control. It's the same tactic the BBC and prestige press in the UK have used with the Rape Gang Inquiry, which has gotten no coverage in the broadsheets or on the BBC, and the American prestige press has followed their lead on that story as well.
We don't know if the issue of illegal immigration radicalized Alvarez, but it's a pretty good bet. The Left has been beating the drum that immigration enforcement is Nazi stuff, and that ICE, Trump, and the administration are using Gestapo tactics. Just the sort of thing that motivates revolutionaries.
It's early days, but that mugshot of Alvarez makes clear he is quite proud of himself, and no doubt he will have many defenders on the Left, Luigi Mangione-style.
All I can say is, thank God he and his co-conspirators failed. One more assassination plot foiled.
