As "Islamoskeptic" as I am, I don't think it is inherently wrong for non-Muslim politicians to give good wishes to their Muslim constituents at the beginning of Ramadan.
Acknowledging important days to various communities is a tradition as old as time in politics, even or especially if one is being a hypocrite to do so. The mercenary goal is to pander to the group for votes, and the less cynical reason is to emphasize to everyone that, despite our differences, we all share a common bond as members of our community.
Done right, it should actually erode identity politics by subordinating differences under the larger banner of shared community; done wrong, it emphasizes differences and implies submission, especially to groups who are explicit in their demands for submission.
But, as many people have noticed, in cities and countries around the West, public figures and institutions have completely subordinated Christianity, the majority religion in Western countries (Western countries were, until recently, identified as Christendom for a reason), and elevated Ramadan.
I’m not usually one to post this kinda stuff but it’s actually insane they posted this and nothing for Lent, they legit don’t have a single Muslim on the team and probably the org, yet half their team probably celebrates Lent. https://t.co/I94ae1qq3g

I can confidently say that because, unusually, both Lent and Ramadan began on the same day this year, as did the Lunar New Year. The last time this happened was over 160 years ago, and it would have been easy to emphasize our shared community by acknowledging all three and weaving together a message that we can all live in peace, harmony, and blah blah blah anodyne comments.
The Democratic Party posted about Ramadan and the Lunar New Year yesterday.

But they did not post a single thing about Ash Wednesday today. pic.twitter.com/aSab84z9k6
But that's not the way that many of our politicians went at all. Instead, they did exactly what you would expect in a world where being an "oppressed minority" (i.e., not a white Christian) makes one special. Everybody went all-in on Ramadan in particular, because we mustn't offend our Muslim brothers (sisters don't count for much in Islam), and Christians are oppressors who must be suppressed.
Just a reminder, Ramadan is being celebrated at NYC City Hall, but Ash Wednesday, Lent, and Easter is not allowed to be celebrated there.

I guess there is a mandatory separation between 'church' and state but not between 'mosque' and state.
Got it. 👌
I have argued many times that the West is Islamizing, or perhaps better said, it is being transformed by the Left/Muslim alliance against the Christian West. The celebration of Christian holidays has been suppressed deliberately for quite a while now, but the elevation of Islamic holidays as particularly special is a recent phenomenon. There are many places in the West that still celebrate the Christmas season, but the religious aspect has been slowly or not so slowly stripped away.

Not so with Ramadan, which has suddenly been elevated to high status. In a world where almost all terrorist acts are committed by radical Muslims, "Christian Nationalism" has become the boogie man that is the biggest danger to us all.

Biden's FBI famously identified traditional Catholics as potential terrorists because they like their masses to be in Latin. Worse, they disapprove of the holiest sacraments of the left: murdering babies and sterilizing children. They must be watched carefully!
Gretchen Whitmer has tweeted about Ramadan 14 times. As Parker notes, she’s tweeted about Lent/Ash Wednesday a grand total of 1 time. https://t.co/wgToe6vEvW

I know that for many people, especially old-style liberals, the idea of a left/Muslim alliance seems absurd, and that those of us who warn against it must be crazy to link the two. Not only is the alliance many decades old and well understood by people who study such things, but over the past 3 years, it has been so obvious that even the most obtuse should see it.
Queers for Palestine, anyone? The Democratic Socialists have joined arms with Hamas.
It's because the two ideologies share a deep hatred for the West and the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Muslims, bizarrely, think of themselves as victims of the West, and talk incessantly about the Crusades. Ironically, the Crusades were entirely driven by the fact that Islam conquered previously Christian territories. They were the "colonizers," not Christians, whose dominance in the region far predated the existence of Islam.
The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan made posts celebrating Ramadan and Lunar New Year this year but ignored Lent - despite it starting on the same day as Ramadan.

Nonbelievers think Christians are exaggerating or whining when we point out the obvious hostility to Christianity and the increasingly open alliance between Islam and leftism. That's partly because it doesn't fit their view of how the world works, and partly because secular people in America have been wary of Christians for a long time, seeing us as retrograde and intolerant.
Perhaps they think the elevation of Islamic holidays is a bit of harmless payback. Perhaps they are just oblivious to the increasing Islamization of our societies.
Whatever the reason, this skepticism is deeply mistaken and has given us atrocities like the Muslim rape gangs in Great Britain, in which government officials conspired with Muslim communities to sacrifice the lives and innocence of young girls because that is "their culture."
If you think this trend is harmless, it is only because you are naive.
