Welcome back to our VIP video series "Off the Beaten Path," featuring my friend Christian Toto of Hollywood in Toto! Christian and I start off our week by discussing stories and ideas that may fly under our radar, in culture, politics, sports, and more. Plus, Christian previews his latest podcast at HiT.

Has Woke 1.0 returned – with a vengeance? Christian talks about the new attempts to cancel Shane Gillis after his Saturday Night Live monologue. Did Lorne Michaels invite Gillis to atone for his earlier cancellation, and will he step up this time to defend comedy? Christian says ... don't bet on it.

This leads us into a broader discussion of the sexual revolution and the Cornell 7 case. Gillis' material pokes fun at women who dress skimpily and then complain about the "male gaze," but the culture on campus is a disaster for both men and women. Pope Paul VI tried to warn the world about this, Ed reminds everyone, and even then, it was not a new phenomenon.

We take a look at the box office and the spectacular failure of The Social Reckoning. Aaron Sorkin tried to lecture audiences for two hours about misinformation in a sequel to a film in which Sorkin largely fictionalized the origin story of Facebook. At least The Social Network was entertaining, Ed points out. Christian reveals that Sean Penn is making a film about January 6 as well, which backers may want to reconsider after seeing the box office for Sorkin's new film.

Finally, Christian and Ed discuss misinformation in other films such as Truth and Benicio Del Toro's biopic of Che Guevara. Ed recommends the film The Insider instead, especially the performance of Russell Crowe.

Watch it all and join us in the comments!
