Hasan Piker just spread his unique blend of obfuscation and hate at Cornell University.
Among the topics explored by the far-far-Left pundit? "The End of Zionism."
Sounds like From the River to the Sea, but on steroids, no?
Why any university would invite a genuinely toxic figure like Piker to speak is a topic for another day. What's the upside? What do we have to learn from someone who recently wished for “Chinese-style communism to happen inside of the Democrat Party right now" along with a vow to throw doubters in prison.
Hasan Piker: “I will throw you in prison.”

Then: “I want Chinese-style communism to happen inside of the Democratic Party right now.”
And: “I wanna do cultural revolution.”

Piker spoke without incident, and on paper that's a sign of progress. More voices, not less, as Andrew Breitbart famously said.
It's also the opposite of what would happen if a far-Right figure of PIker's clout got the key to a college, almost any college. Then again, perhaps only Nick Fuentes can match Piker at this point, and he's not even technically on the Right.
How do we know? Just look at recent history. We've seen conservative speakers face serial threats over the past decade. Ann Coulter. Ben Shapiro. Riley Gaines.
The latter, an athlete-turned-pundit, had to hide in a literal safe space for hours when the trans mob came after her in 2023. (Did any feminist groups rally to her side? Of course not.)
Even mild-mannered, right-leaning comedian K-von has faced the cancellation music.
Most Americans have never heard about these incidents because the Legacy Media hid them so well. Now, Piker is creating news for a recent college appearance that got cancelled due to his incendiary rhetoric.
Shapiro isn't incendiary. Piker sure is.
Yet right-leaning speakers continue to face speech suppression at the academic level. The latest example? Popular pundit Tim Pool nearly saw his appearance at the University of Chicago get cancelled until a last-minute decision to keep him on the schedule.
The embarrassing part, noted by the invaluable College Fix web site?
FIRE, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, recently voted the college as the top university for free speech. FIRE provides a valuable service overall, one that used to fall to the ACLU.
That group is now a far-Left activist group that doesn't stand tall for free speech. Sad, but true. Remember how the ACLU raged against the Twitter Files and Big Tech censoring comedians?
We neither.
Still, that FIRE stamp of approval wasn't enough, apparently. The college drummed up fears about Pool being too "controversial" and requiring extra security that they couldn't summon in time for the speech.
Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed. Or, as College Fix suggests, the optics were terrible and FIRE helped set things right.
Phew.
The problem remains. Part of the issue goes back to transparency in the Legacy Media space. If liberal speakers were systematically censured or physically attacked on campuses nationwide, it would be a major story.
Deservedly so.
When the speakers hail from the Right, it's a story that too often isn't worth pursuing. Some voices are protected. Others? Not so much.
